Founder & Owner, Tropics Shave Ice
I noticed a gap in the Bay Area for truly high quality, premium shave ice done at scale. There are either cheap, low quality snowcones or Hawaiian shave ice that can't serve at volume. The Bay Area is stressful and people here deserve to be teleported to tropical islands as a break from the hustle. I quit my corporate job to build something where I can use my professional experience to bring happiness and a temporary escape to corporate events, private parties, and celebrations.
We initially operated under two separate brands: Ro's Tropical Sno and Marina Ice Co. and have since merged them into Tropics Shave Ice, reflecting that our team has the capacity and training to serve at everything from large corporate events with several hundred employees looking for a treat, to small, intimate gatherings where our stop-by becomes the highlight.
